Who are we?
Bag2School (B2S) was founded by Marcus Fitch Peyton and Ted Childs in 1999 in the small town of Northallerton, situated in the countryside of North Yorkshire in the north of England.
Bag2School is focused on collecting quality second-hand clothing and related textiles for reuse.
It is a business organisation, not a charity.
However, Bag2School is not a typical commercial enterprise, but is a company with very genuine philanthropic intentions.
In Bag2School’s financial year 2007, 73.6% of Bag2School’s gross turnover was paid to participating schools in the UK, while 26.1% was spent on operational costs, leaving 0.3% as profit.
Whilst Bag2School is committed to making an operating profit necessary for growth and investment, profit is not our only goal. Rather we are committed to trying to be fair and balanced on what we pay schools and work colleagues, yet still making a modest profit for the business. Also, B2S has no external shareholders who would require a much higher return on their investment.
What do we do?
We promote fund raising partnerships for:
- Kindergarten schools
- Elementary schools
- High schools
- Colleges
- Sports clubs
- Scouting organizations
- Churches
- Charity organizations
Obviously Bag2School creates unique possibilities to raise funds swiftly and safely for your school or other cause, while at the same time you are helping the environment (see Recycling Facts) and creating employment here, as well as abroad.
